5 spending categories earn zero rewards (including rent, wallet_load).

Our editorial take on this card
What works
The 1.0% forex markup is the genuine outlier here: every Rs.1,00,000 of foreign card spend costs you Rs.1,000 in markup versus Rs.1,990 on SBI Elite or Rs.3,500 on ICICI Sapphiro, which alone justifies the fee for anyone with Rs.3-5 lakh of annual international card spend. International lounge access is unlimited with no spend threshold (a structural advantage even over Magnus and Reserve, which cap or gate visits), and the Visa Infinite network gives you 4 complimentary international guest passes plus 2 domestic guest passes per calendar year, useful when traveling with a partner. The 40,000 YES Rewardz welcome bonus is worth roughly Rs.6,400 (40,000 points x Rs.0.20 x 0.80 realistic redemption factor), enough to cover most of the first-year fee net of GST. The BookMyShow Buy-1-Get-1 offer caps at 3 tickets per month and Rs.800 discount per ticket, which is a max Rs.2,400/month of movie savings (Rs.28,800/year potential) for an active movie-goer, dwarfing the Rs.6,000/year BMS perk on SBI Elite. Fuel surcharge waiver up to Rs.1,000/cycle covers Rs.40,000 of annual fuel spend (1% surcharge) before you lose anything.
Yes Bank stopped accepting new Marquee applications and the product page is a confirmed 404 as of mid-2026. If you do not already hold the card, this review is academic. The headline earn looks like 18 points per Rs.100 online, but at Rs.0.20 per YES Rewardz point that is a real 3.6% on online category spend and 1.8% offline (9 points per Rs.100), a fraction of what an HDFC Regalia Gold (3.33%) returns at a Rs.2,500 fee. Five spend categories earn ZERO points: rent, wallet loads (Paytm/PhonePe top-ups), fuel, government/tax payments, and marketing/advertising. Route rent or fuel through this card and that portion of your spend yields nothing, the biggest hit to real-world return. Domestic lounge access is gated by Rs.1,00,000 spend in the PRECEDING quarter: if you do not hit Rs.1L in Jan-Mar you get zero domestic lounge visits Apr-Jun (the international perk has no such gate). Utility-spend reward points are capped at 1,250 per statement cycle, which is just Rs.250 of value per month before utilities stop earning at all, and is harsh for any household routing electricity/broadband through this card. The Rs.10 lakh fee-waiver threshold is double what most Rs.4,999-tier cards ask, and the welcome bonus (Rs.6,400) does not fully offset the Rs.9,999 joining fee in year one, leaving a net cost of Rs.3,599 plus GST.
Bottom line
The Yes Bank Marquee is a super-premium card that has aged into a defensive hold: Yes Bank closed new applications, the product page 404s, and YES Rewardz have no transfer partners, so the upside ceiling is capped. But two structural perks (unlimited international lounge with no spend gate, 1% forex) remain genuinely best-in-class for the Premium tier, and existing holders who travel internationally and spend abroad should keep the card. New applicants cannot get it; pick SBI Elite or HDFC Diners Privilege Travel instead.

Who Is This Card For?
Almost no one new: Yes Bank is not accepting new Marquee applications. For existing holders, the card pays for itself if you are an international traveler with at least 4 foreign trips a year (unlimited lounge value of Rs.15,000-25,000) AND foreign card spend above Rs.3 lakh annually (forex savings of Rs.2,000-3,000 vs peer cards) AND total annual spend above Rs.10 lakh on online-eligible categories (fee waiver triggered, real earn ~Rs.36,000/year at 3.6%). Below that profile the math turns negative quickly.
If you are not already a Marquee cardholder you cannot get this card. Apply for SBI Elite, HDFC Diners Privilege, or ICICI Sapphiro instead. Existing holders should downgrade or close the card if your annual card spend is under Rs.5 lakh (no fee waiver, base earn too thin to justify Rs.5,899 GST-inclusive fee), if you rarely travel internationally (the unlimited-lounge edge is wasted), if a majority of your spend hits the five excluded categories (rent / wallet / fuel / govt / advertising, all earning 0 points), or if you depend on YES Rewardz redemption for travel transfers (there are no airline/hotel transfer partners; you are locked into Rs.0.20/point statement-credit value).

Value Verdict
Eligible spend · no routingEstimated annual value at ₹50,000/month spend with base earn on eligible retail (after assumed 15% in excluded categories) on a 50/50 online/offline channel mix.
✗ On base rewards alone, this card cannot recoup its annual fee: the monthly cap limits earn to ₹250/month (₹3,000/yr max), less than the ₹5,899 GST-inclusive fee. Value only comes from regular perk use.
Year 1 also carries a one-time ₹9,999 + 18% GST joining fee (~₹11,799), charged upfront on issuance and not waivable by spend. The net above reflects the renewal-year fee; subtract the joining fee from year-1 value.
First year bonus: +₹6,400 welcome value (not included above)Year-1 net: ₹5,899 upfront (fee + 18% GST, GST non-refundable) − ~₹5,400 realized voucher value (closed-loop, ~15% liquidity haircut) ≈ ₹499 net cost, not zero.
Assumptions used in this estimate▸
- • Reward earnings shown at the conservative redemption tier (vouchers / statement credit).
- • Monthly reward cap of ₹250 applies to utility spend only (electricity, gas, telecom, broadband); other categories earn uncapped.
- • Lounge value uses ~55% realistic utilization (most flyers don't fully clock the available visits). Per-visit anchors: ₹800 domestic, ₹1,500 international. Retail-equivalent (100% utilization) would be ₹9,000.
- • Lounge access is gated at ₹1,00,000/quarter preceding spend. At ₹50,000/month you clear the gate with ₹50,000 headroom, value counted at full utilization band.
- • Assumes 15% of your spend lands in 5 excluded categories (fuel, rent, etc.) that earn ₹0: eligible spend used in the math above is ₹42,500/month.
- • Annual fee of ₹4,999 + 18% GST (₹5,899 total) is included in the net calculation. Fee would be waived above ₹10,00,000/year spend.
